	The Forum About Us Meetings Minutes Current Membership Join the Forum Our Publications About Us Car and other motor vehicles are essential to our society but rapidly growing rates of ownership and use are creating major problems for both business and individuals, including the costs of congestion on the impact on the environment. However there is now practical evidence that, with better information and facilities, some car drivers can be encouraged to use an alternative means of travel for some journeys, including commuting and business travel. The forum is an opportunity for diverse businesses to exchange ideas to develop transport systems to meet their needs and those of their employees. The forum is non-political and, whilst it has a core function of encouraging more use of public transport, walking and cycling, it is not anti-car, recognising that for may journeys the car can be the only sensible choice and as such should be adequately provided for. The forum was set up in 1999 by the South-East Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the initial membership included representatives from major businesses, public transport operators, the city council and further education and health establishments. Meetings Meetings are held three times a year at a variety of locations.
