The Greater Portsmouth Hoteliers Association (GPHA)

Consisting of the larger hotel establishments in South East Hampshire, the GPHA exists to bring together hoteliers to promote the industry, to encourage young people to consider a career in hospitality, to lobby on issues affecting the sector and to share best practice.

Portsmouth Hotels Announce the Second "Free Open Day"

On Sunday 21^st March 2010, local hotels are joining forces for the Greater Portsmouth Hotelier's Association's second annual ‘Open Day', offering free tours, refreshments food samplings and a quiz with fantastic prizes.

The Lysses House Hotel, Premier Inn, Marriott and the Langstone are all planning cookery demonstrations and menu tasting for culinary enthusiasts, while the Hilton will be bringing back its Christmas festivities from December.

The health conscious can take part in Holiday Inn Fareham's ‘Keep Fit' day, visit spas at the Langstone and Solent Hotels or get free golf tutoring at Marriott Meon Valley. These hotels will also be showing all they offer for the perfect wedding.

On Portsea Island, Express Holiday Inn in Gunwharf and Etap in Fratton Park will be showing off their venues, the Ibis will holding a free wine tasting master class and the Holiday Inn, Pembroke Road, will be showcasing banquets and parties and even a children's disco!

Hospitality Taster Day Review

The GPHA organised its second Taster Day for local schools and pupils interested in the hospitality sector. A variety of hotels were on hand to demonstrate various aspects of hotel life including bed making, catering, Health and Beauty and Reception Duties

57% of students attending said it had made them consider a career in the industry. A further Taster Day will be taking place in November 09 at the Portsmouth Marriott Hotel.
